HOW AN UNPLANNED PIPELINE SHUT-IN CAN INCREASE PRODUCTION

BHP TRANSIENT DATA OBTAINED FROM 33 WELLS SIMULTANEOUSLY

During a field-wide shut-in for unplanned pipeline repairs, an operator performed surface bottom hole pressure transient build-ups on 33 deep Wilcox wells in South Texas. A number of the wells were marked as depleted wells. After obtaining a 72-hour build-up, with electronic surface quartz gauges, 9 of the 33 wells were identified as re-frac candidates. The operator re-stimulated all 9 wells, increasing production by 15 MMCFD and adding 8 BCF additional recoverable reserves.
The EBOT electronic surface gauge is the only way to obtain this much pressure transient data from 33 wells simultaneously.
